Career Development Project

The project was designed mainly to provide us with the opportunity to explore various possible research areas of specialization and choose those which are compatible with our own unique skills, knowledge, personalities, and interests. The areas in which we will enjoy working as prospective professional researchers.

This project was composed of the following three components:

Component 1

Supervised by: Dr Martin Terre Blanche

Aim:
In this component each of us ( the MA students in Research Psychology) had to create his or her own website.

This followed:

Component 2

Supervised by Prof. Kate Grieve

Aim:
Each of us had to compile a document on the research area to which he or she would like to devote his or her career as a researcher.

The document was compiled as follows:

Component 3

Also supervised by Prof. Kate Grieve

Aim:
Each one of us had to present on his or her area of interest. This took place on the the 19th of November 2001. The presentation took a form of a simulated job interview. Thus, each was interviewed for the hypothetical job he or she had described in the document. The interview panel comprised some staff members of Psychology Department at Unisa (including the MA program co-ordinators and project supervisors) and external examiner(chief manager of broadcast research at the SABC).
